Zen Books is the imprint of Zen Editorial de Ciencia y Bienestar LLC, a publishing company based in Houston, Texas. It was founded to publish nonfiction about how people work: the mind, the body, the habits that hold a life together. The books come out in Spanish, English and German, and they share one rule: what they claim can be checked.
The press began with its own books. Since 2023 it has published titles on high sensitivity in adults and children, on forgiveness, on self-esteem and on the gut-brain connection, with editions in three languages and readers in Spain, Latin America, the United States and Germany. In 2026 it opened its desk to other authors.
The editor
Christian Duarte is a molecular biologist with postgraduate training in biomedicine and neuroscience, a master’s degree in Advanced Therapies and Biotechnological Innovation and a PhD in social sciences. He was a university professor and researcher until 2023 and has since worked as an independent author and science writer. He has published seven books under Zen Books and translated his own work into English and German. He reads every manuscript the press receives, edits every book it publishes and answers his own email.
What we believe about books
That nonfiction is a promise: the reader gives you hours and you give them something true. That a book should look like a book: the cover, the paper, the margins and the type are part of what it says. That an author should own what they wrote. And that a press should be able to explain, in plain words, what it does with your money.
